The Role
Due to continued growth, 4G Metals is seeking a reliable and motivated Trades Assistant to support our Maintenance team across multiple Sydney sites.
If you’re mechanically minded, enjoy hands-on work, and want to build your skills working on heavy plant and industrial equipment — this is a fantastic opportunity to join a stable and growing Australian-owned business.
What you’ll be doing
Based at Kemps Creek, you will work across our 4G Metals sites at Kemps Creek, Seven Hills, Artarmon and Smithfield, assisting our qualified Fitters and Maintenance team to keep plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently.
- Assisting Tradespeople with mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Supporting preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Helping respond to breakdowns and equipment faults
- General workshop duties including cleaning, organising tools and equipment
- Basic mechanical tasks under supervision
- Loading/unloading materials and parts
- Recording basic job details in our maintenance system
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in line with WHS requirements
This is a hands-on, physically active role that provides exposure to heavy fixed and mobile plant in a fast-paced industrial environment.
About You
You are reliable, safety-focused and eager to learn.
Essential:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in heavy equipment
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Current Australian driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Willingness to travel between our four Sydney sites
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and ongoing Drug & Alcohol testing
Highly regarded:
- Experience in Waste, Scrap Metal, Recycling, Manufacturing or Construction
- Forklift Licence (LF)
- Working at Heights or EWP ticket
- Currently undertaking or interested in pursuing a Mechanical trade
This role would suit someone looking to gain hands-on industry experience or work towards a future trade qualification.
