Nursery Coordinator – Caring for Country

Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) is seeking a Nursery Coordinator to join our Caring for Country team and help grow native plants that support restoration across Wadawurrung Country. You will help us grow and expand the nursery by identifying opportunities to build partnerships and strengthen its impact supporting projects across Country.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with plants, connecting with people and being part of a small team doing meaningful work for Country.
About the Role
Based at our Bostock site (Ballan) near Ballarat, the Nursery Coordinator helps guide and support the work of our native plant nursery while connecting with restoration projects, partners and community.
You’ll work closely with our Nursery Team Leader and nursery crew, helping coordinate plant orders, prepare quotes and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure we are growing the right plants for projects across Wadawurrung Country.
This role blends relationship building and coordination with hands on nursery work. While you will support planning and client liaison, you’ll also step into the nursery alongside the team working in the nursery.
We are a small and collaborative team, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys working together, sharing knowledge and contributing wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise with clients, partners and internal teams about native plant supply for projects
Prepare quotes and plant lists for restoration and revegetation work
Help plan nursery production to meet project needs
Provide guidance on native species selection and planting needs
Work alongside the Nursery Team Leader and team to support nursery operations
Assist with seed collection planning and species selection
Keep nursery records and project information organised
Build positive relationships with stakeholders, partners and community
About You
Qualification in horticulture or a related field
Knowledge of native plants and interest in ecological restoration
Experience working with clients, stakeholders or project partners
Strong communication and organisational skills
Comfortable balancing planning work with practical nursery tasks
Enjoy working as part of a small, supportive team
Current Australian driver’s licence
