Are you passionate about water, sustainability, and working with Traditional Owners to guide better outcomes for Country? Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) is seeking a values aligned Integrated Water Management Officer (IWMO) to support and lead collaborative water projects across Wadawurrung Country.

About the Role

This role spans across Ballarat, Ballan, Geelong and surrounding areas to connect people, agencies, and Traditional Owners in delivering meaningful integrated water management (IWM) outcomes. You’ll play a key role in influencing how water, wastewater, stormwater, and land use planning are approached, ensuring that solutions reflect cultural values, long term sustainability, and the goals of Wadawurrung’s Country Plan Paleert Tjaara Dja – Let’s Make Country Good Together.

You’ll help bring to life WTOAC’s IWM Statement and support projects that embed Aboriginal knowledge and voice into water governance and design.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate engagement between Traditional Owners and government on IWM initiatives

• Build partnerships with CMAs, councils, water corporations and agencies

• Support site visits, workshops, and educational events on water and Country

• Contribute to planning and strategy documents across water and land projects

• Assist in aligning regional water planning with WTOAC’s cultural water priorities

• Identify and support funding opportunities for IWM work on Country

About You

• Strong communication and relationship building skills

• Ability to connect and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence working both independently and as part of a team

• Availability to travel regularly across Wadawurrung Country

• Understanding of IWM, water policy, or environmental planning

• Familiarity with government processes and planning frameworks

• Knowledge of Wadawurrung Country, Culture, or protocols
