Are You Ready to Step Up?
If you’ve spent years in the field delivering enterprise infrastructure and you’re starting to feel like
you’ve seen it all — you probably have. You’re the person your team comes to when something doesn’t make sense. You pick up new technologies faster than most. You’ve got opinions on how things should be designed, not just how they should be built. And lately, you’ve been wondering what’s next.
This is what’s next.
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer who is ready to make the move into a Solution Architect role on a major project. You won’t be handed a textbook definition of the job — you’ll be given real workstreams, real accountability, and the support of an experienced Lead SA who wants to see you succeed. If you back yourself, we back you too.
About the Role
The Associate Solution Architect sits within the project delivery team and reports directly to the Lead Solution Architect. You’ll own specific infrastructure workstreams end-to-end — from design through to delivery — across complex enterprise environments. This isn’t a role where you wait to be told what to do. You’ll be expected to take initiative, ask the right questions, produce quality outputs, and drive your workstreams to completion.
The technology will change. The problems will be different. That’s the point. If variety, ownership, and the chance to build something meaningful sounds like your kind of role — read on.
What You’ll Be Doing
Owning Your Workstreams
• Take full ownership of assigned infrastructure workstreams from design through to
delivery — including scope, quality, and outcomes• Produce architecture artefacts for your workstreams including High Level Designs (HLD),
Low Level Designs (LLD), network diagrams, and build documentation• Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early — and come with solutions, not just
problems
• Coordinate with vendors, engineers, and implementation partners to keep your workstreams
moving
• Report
progress clearly and confidently to the Lead SA and broader project teamApplying Your Technical
Depth
• Apply your enterprise infrastructure knowledge across domains including LAN/WAN,
routing and switching, firewalls, data centre, compute, virtualisation, and
storage
• Pick up unfamiliar technologies quickly and apply them with the same rigour you
bring to what you already know
• Contribute
to design reviews and challenge assumptions where you see a better way
• Ensure
your designs are robust, secure, and built to last — not just built to pass
review
• Support
the Lead SA in maintaining architectural consistency and standards across the
project
Working with People
• Engage
confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand
requirements and explain design decisions
• Collaborate
with other architects, engineers, and delivery team members — you’re part of a
team, not a lone operator
• Provide
clear technical direction to implementation teams within your workstreams
• Share
what you know — your experience is an asset to the people around you
What We’re Looking For
Your Background
• 5+
years as a Senior Network, Infrastructure, or Systems Engineer in enterprise
environments — you’ve done the hard yards in the field
• You’ve
worked across multiple infrastructure domains and technology stacks — you’re
not a one-trick specialist
• You’ve
been involved in design work, even if it wasn’t your official title — HLDs,
LLDs, technical proposals, or pre-sales design
• You’ve
worked on project-based delivery, not just BAU support — you understand how
projects run
• Experience
with vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, HPE, Dell, VMware, Palo Alto, F5, or
similar
• Exposure
to enterprise sectors such as healthcare, government, education, or utilities
(desirable)
Your Technical Skills
• Strong
hands-on knowledge of enterprise networking — routing, switching, firewalls,
WAN, and data centre design
• Experience
with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V
• Solid
understanding of network security fundamentals — segmentation, access control,
DMZ architecture
• Ability
to produce clear, accurate technical documentation — you know that good design
lives on paper, not just in your head
• Familiarity
with enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery concepts
• Comfort
working across multiple technology domains simultaneously — you adapt, you
don’t freeze
The Intangibles — This Is
the Important Part
• You
get bored doing the same thing repeatedly — you want variety, challenge, and
the chance to grow
• You
pick things up fast — new vendors, new platforms, new problems — you back your
ability to figure it out
• You
take ownership — when something is yours, you see it through, no matter what it
takes
• You’re
ready to step out of pure execution and into design and leadership — and you’re
hungry to prove it
• You’re
resilient — projects get messy, requirements change, and timelines move; you
roll with it and keep delivering
• You
want to be rewarded for results, not just for showing up
Qualifications
• Relevant
vendor certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, VCP, or equivalent — or the
experience that proves you didn’t need the cert to learn it
• Bachelor’s
degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience — we
care more about what you can do)
• TOGAF
or similar architecture framework exposure (desirable, not essential — we can
help you get there)
What’s In It For You
• A
genuine step up — real architecture ownership on a real project, with a Lead SA
invested in your development
• Variety
by design — different technologies, different problems, different challenges
across every workstream
• Performance-based
reward — if you deliver, you’ll be recognised and compensated for it
• A
team that backs you — strong technical leadership, collaborative culture, and
people who want to see you succeed
• A
launchpad — this role is how good Senior Engineers become great Solution
Architects
• Competitive
remuneration package, negotiable based on experience
• Flexible
working arrangements
• [Any
other benefits — professional development, certifications, health, etc.]
