VDI Australia Group is the sole national distributor of Yutong buses and Iveco trucks, supplying vehicles and parts to a wide range of industries across the country. We are an Australian-owned, family-operated business with branches in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Cairns.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Automotive Electrician to join our Perth workshop team and support our expanding operations nationwide.
This is a hands-on role working closely with our workshop team while reporting to the Team Leader
/ Operations Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, diagnosing, repairing and installing electrical systems across our vehicles.
About the Role
As an Automotive Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing vehicle electrical systems to ensure vehicles operate safely and efficiently. You will work in a dynamic workshop environment where strong diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and technical expertise are
essential.
Key Accountabilities are but not limited to
- Diagnose electrical faults using diagnostic tools and software
- Repair or replace wiring harnesses, connectors, relays, switches and other components
- Install electrical systems and accessories such as lighting, audio systems and security systems
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicle electrical system
- Test all repaired or replaced components to ensure full functionality
- Provide accurate time estimates for repairs and installations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive electrical systems and emerging vehicle technologies
- Follow company safety procedures and workshop standards
- Support, lead and promote sustainability practices in the workplace in conjunction with management
direction.
- Show a dedicated commitment to safety and quality assurance.
- Comply with and follow all VDI policies and procedures when it comes to our required documentation
Skills and experience
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting complex electrical faults
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
- Experience installing aftermarket vehicle electronics
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and automotive software
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Qualifications
- Trade qualification as an Automotive Electrician (or equivalent)
- Current valid driver’s licence
- Knowledge of relevant electrical safety regulations and standards
- Additional training or certifications in automotive electronic will be highly regarded
