The Role:
We have a permanent full‑time opportunity for a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our national Fleet Services team. This role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh in Adelaide, supporting service delivery across multiple sites including Woomera and the Port Wakefield Test Range. There is a focus on development with career growth towards local leadership roles.
As part of a highly skilled, close‑knit team, you will deliver critical maintenance services across specialised fleets of light and heavy vehicles for government, defence, and commercial customers. A key focus of the role includes supporting Aviation Refuelling Vehicles, Ground Support Equipment, and other Special Purpose Vehicles.
This role includes company provided vehicle, tooling, laptop and phone, with ongoing training and professional development available.
To be considered for this role the candidate must:
- Be an Australian citizen and complete federal police checks to meet appropriate security clearance.
- Be a trade qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with a minimum of 5 years trade experience.
- Successfully complete a pre-placement medical including D&A testing.
- Hold a valid Australian full driver’s licence and be willing to obtain HR>HC/DG licenses.

- Be willing and able to travel as required to support customer operations across multiple sites.
- Possess excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capabilities.
- Have knowledge and understanding of hazardous and military standards.
- Be proficient with computers and digital systems.
- Have proven experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and 12/24V electrical control systems.
- Confidently read, interpret, and apply schematics, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Be committed to ongoing training, upskilling, and professional development.
- Bring experience with aviation refuelling vehicles or ground support equipment (highly regarded).
- Bring relevant defence industry trade experience (highly regarded).
