The Role:
We have a permanent position for a motivated and talented Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Integrated Design and Engineering Solutions (IDES), our Melbourne subsidiary. IDES is a company specialising in product development, systems integration, advanced engineering, and engineering support services, primarily operating in the Defence Land and Special Vehicles segments.
This is a unique opportunity where you will:
• Work on exciting new system integration projects as a member of the IDES Engineering Team including Defence LAND programs.
• Liaise with customers and key stake holders to understand and meet technical requirements.
• Have design authority for IDES Electrical system designs and sign off.
Deliver engineering & technical solutions for the integration of electrical systems. (Power & Radio frequency)
• Develop electrical budget, electrical circuit designs, safety reviews – in accordance with applicable defence and commercial standards.
• Support and / or undertake Project Management as required, including budgeting, scheduling, supplier performance and resource management ensuring high quality outcomes.
• Undertake analysis using engineering tools such as DFMAs, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis
• Review and apply customer specified standards and relevant regulations
• Prepare and conduct test and evaluation programs.
• Undertake system design Safety analysis, Maintainability analysis and trade off analysis of technical proposals.
• Prepare Project Deliverable Documents (e.g. UHB, EMEI, DID’s etc.)
• Coordinate and manage release of CAD, RFQs and SOWs to suppliers, manage schedule, inspection and acceptance of supplies.
• Support tender response preparation activities, and IDES team and project activities & goals.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering – meeting NER qualification requirements (or equivalent tertiary education).
• Ideally you have worked on projects where you have designed, developed and tested electrical systems. (Defence or Automotive preferred).
• Design experience integrating Defence prime equipment or similar including signing off electrical designs.
• Experience creating wiring routing design drawings.
• Electrical Systems testing plans and reports
• Experience working with vehicle standards/regulations (Electrical focus)
• Experience working in a structured project driven environment
• Australian Citizen (Mandatory).
• Eligibility to hold Security Clearance (active security clearance desirable).
