Hume Riverina Community Legal Service (HRCLS) is a service of Upper Murray Family Care (UMFC) – a proudly independent, community-managed organisation, dedicated to strengthening
families and individuals across North East Victoria and the Southern Riverina of NSW and an organisation committed to social justice, inclusion and trauma-informed care.
HRCLS is a generalist, place-based, cross-border community legal centre providing free legal
assistance in civil and family law to those who are most in need: people experiencing barriers to accessing justice who have intersecting legal and non-legal problems. We do this through partnerships with community, education, health and specialist family violence services.
About the Role
HRCLS is looking for multiple Lawyers to join the Family Law and Family Violence Practice. These roles will not only support those who are most in need within our community but will also have the opportunity to contribute to our social learning program, law reform and advocacy.
As a Family Violence, Family Law Lawyer, you will:
- Deliver legal information, advice, casework, duty lawyer services and court representation in a trauma-informed manner
- Foster and maintain strong partnerships with community organisations and sector stakeholders
- Contribute to community legal education, secondary consultations and professional development activities
- Support law reform and advocacy initiatives
- Provide supervision and support to lawyers, paralegals, students and volunteers as required
Is This You?
To be eligible, you will need to hold (or be eligible to hold) an unrestricted practising certificate in
Australia.
Additionally, the following will be highly valued:
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Legal practice experience (or capacity to work) in family law and family violence matters
- Court representation experience in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria and/or the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
As our ideal candidate, you are resilient, adaptable, and eager to create real impact. You bring enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to your work and enjoy being part of a collaborative team that shares a commitment to social justice.
