About the Role
The Coordinator of the Grandcare Program plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally responsive, and family-centred services that promote the wellbeing and stability of grandchildren in the care of grandcarers. This position provides strategic oversight of program operations, strengthens collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders, and guides the Grandcare team to deliver inclusive support aligned with organisational values and best practice.
You will utilise your extensive leadership and people management skills to support and develop the team through effective supervision and mentoring, and driving continuous improvement through data-informed practice and program evaluation. A core focus of the role is managing the assessment of grandcarer eligibility for the Grandcarers Support Scheme, responding to a high volume of requests with professionalism and compassion. The Coordinator is responsible for meeting all contractual, financial, and reporting requirements.
About you
You are an experienced and compassionate leader with a strong background in social work or allied mental health, who is motivated by the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of grandcarers and the children in their care.
You bring:
• A degree in Social Work (or a recognised equivalent) or allied mental health and eligibility for membership in the a relevant professional body.
• Proven experience of more than 12 months in supervising a team, including mentoring, coaching and performance management, in a fast paced environment.
• Strong skills in high level report writing, with attention to detail, clarity and an ability to translate data into insights.
• A solid understanding of workplace health & safety obligations, and a commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful working environment.
You excel at:
• Working both collaboratively and as a leader within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Communicating clearly, with empathy, strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
• Managing administrative tasks with efficiency, including sound computer literacy across Windows based software and systems.
• Creating a positive team culture by leading with integrity, respect, and a solution oriented mindset as we bring about change and new ways of working.
If you also bring knowledge or experience in working with vulnerable grandcarer families, and an understanding of trauma, grief & loss, family functioning, and child development that will be very beneficial.
