About the role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the COO will lead the Senior Leadership Team and oversee key functions including Operations, Business Improvement, Business Development, and Human Resources. This role is critical in translating strategic vision into operational excellence, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and performance in a high-volume, time-sensitive claims environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Operational Planning
- Lead and execute the company’s operational strategy aligned to growth objectives
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable frameworks across all regions
- Drive data-led performance, ensuring KPIs, productivity, and cost targets are achieved
- Sponsor initiatives that enhance scalability, efficiency, and customer experience
Leadership & Culture
- Provide strong executive leadership to a multi-disciplinary senior team
- Build a high-performance culture through coaching, development, and succession planning
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Operational Excellence
- Ensure systems, processes, and workflows are optimised for quality and scalability
- Manage critical operational risks and ensure business continuity
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Own executive relationships with insurers, clients, and key partners
- Ensure exceptional customer outcomes, particularly in sensitive claims scenarios
- Represent UBS in industry engagements and foster long-term partnerships
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and contractual obligations
- Oversee contractor compliance, procurement, and system adherence
- Manage significant risk events, disputes, and compliance matters
Financial Performance
- Deliver accurate and timely reporting to the Managing Director
- Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and prioritisation
- Optimise resource planning for sustainable growth
Continuous Improvement & Transformation
- Champion innovation, system adoption, and process improvement
- Lead transformation initiatives to support long-term scalability
About You
You are a strategic and hands-on operational leader with a proven ability to deliver results in complex, high-volume environments. You bring strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership capability, and a passion for building scalable, high-performing teams.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years’ senior leadership experience in operations
- Background in insurance building, construction, or related service industry is a bonus
- Proven success delivering revenue growth, operational KPIs, and cost control
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across operations and support functions
- Strong stakeholder management experience with insurers and partners
- Demonstrated capability in transformation, process improvement, and scaling operations
- High attention to detail with strong governance and risk management capability
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- MBA or postgraduate qualification (highly regarded)
- Trade or building qualifications (advantageous)
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction (advantageous)
- Relevant licences and certifications
