The Opportunity
We are seeking a Registered Psychologist to join our dynamic organisation in Perth on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE). This is a unique, grant-funded 4-year fixed-term contract dedicated to providing specialised psychological services to individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The role has scope to expand services into a full-time role.
As a central part of our strategic multi-pathway model, you will provide proactive mental health support designed to build psychological resilience and manage the initial trauma of a type 1 diabetes diagnosis. You will deliver a blend of immediate, fully funded support for the newly diagnosed and specialised therapy for acute needs, ensuring statewide accessibility through both in-person and telehealth consultations.
Key Areas of Responsibility

Client Service Delivery: Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy to individuals, couples, and families, with a particular focus on the first 18 months of diagnosis and young adults aged 18 – 30.

Specialised Care: Develop individualised treatment plans focusing on T1D-specific challenges such as diabetes distress, burnout, fear of hypos, depression, and anxiety.

Collaborative Practice: Work in partnership with our clinical team of Credentialed Diabetes Educators – to ensure integrated client care and formalise referral processes.

Reporting & Governance: Maintain high standards of clinical record-keeping and contribute professional expertise to the evaluation and monitoring of clinical policies and performance measures.Ensure accurate data collection and reporting against WA Health grant-funded KPI requirements.

Innovation: Actively participate in reviewing work standards and bring forward ideas to improve our community and clinic experience.
What You Will Bring

Relevant Expertise: Full and unconditional registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.

Clinical Experience: Demonstrated experience in providing evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy, ideally with at least 2 years of qualified experience.

Chronic Health Knowledge: Experience working with clients with chronic health conditions, particularly T1D, is highly desirable.

Therapeutic Range: Training or experience in approaches such as CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy.

Communication & Reach: High-level interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience delivering services via telehealth to support statewide community reach.
