Principal Charging Infrastructure Engineer – Remote

Tritium • Remote work, United States • Full-time

Description

About Tritium

Tritium is a global leader in DC fast charging technology, enabling the rapid expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure worldwide. Our high-power charging systems are deployed across major global charging networks, supporting the transition to electric mobility at scale.

As EV adoption accelerates, the design and deployment of charging infrastructure is becoming increasingly complex. Tritium is seeking a senior technical leader who understands these challenges firsthand and can help shape how charging infrastructure is designed, deployed, and integrated with the grid.

The Role

We are looking for a Principal Charging Infrastructure Engineer to bring deep expertise in EV charging deployment and electrical infrastructure design.

This role sits at the intersection of customer engineering, infrastructure planning, and product development. You will work closely with leading charging network operators, utilities, and infrastructure developers across North America to design robust charging solutions and ensure Tritium products integrate seamlessly into real-world installations.

You will also provide critical insight back to Tritium’s product engineering teams, helping shape future products based on real deployment experience.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role suited to someone who has played a leading role in EV charging infrastructure deployments and understands the practical realities of building charging networks at scale.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Technical Leadership in Charging Infrastructure

  • Serve as a senior technical authority supporting the design and deployment of large-scale EV charging infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance on site electrical design, grid integration, and charging system architecture.
  • Advise customers and internal teams on best practices for reliable, scalable charging deployments.

Customer and Industry Engagement

  • Work directly with customer engineering teams, infrastructure planners, and utilities to support charging network deployments.
  • Translate customer site requirements into robust technical solutions aligned with Tritium products.
  • Participate in high-level technical discussions with senior stakeholders and executive leadership.

Infrastructure Design Expertise

  • Develop site design concepts including electrical layouts, cable schedules, protection systems, and equipment specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with North American electrical standards including NEC and related regulatory requirements.
  • Support both grid-connected and off-grid charging infrastructure scenarios.

Product Development Insight

  • Provide feedback to Tritium engineering teams based on real-world installation and deployment challenges.
  • Participate in product design reviews to ensure future products are optimized for deployment efficiency and installation simplicity.
  • Help shape reference architectures and best practices for EV charging infrastructure.

Experience We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years experience designing or deploying electrical infrastructure for industrial power systems, energy systems, or power electronics.
  • Direct experience supporting EV charging infrastructure deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of North American electrical codes and standards (NEC).
  • Experience designing site electrical systems including protection coordination, breaker selection, and cable sizing.
  • Experience producing AutoCAD-based electrical layouts or site designs.
  • Experience working with utilities, charging network operators, or large infrastructure projects.

Ideal Background

  • EV charging infrastructure engineering

  • Charging network deployment engineering

  • Electrical infrastructure design for energy or transportation systems

  • Power systems engineering supporting EV charging

Experience with DC fast charging deployments is particularly valuable.

Why This Role Matters

EV charging infrastructure is one of the most critical challenges in the global energy transition. Tritium’s products power charging networks around the world, and the success of those deployments depends on engineers who understand how infrastructure works in the real world.

In this role, you will directly influence how charging networks are designed, deployed, and integrated with next-generation charging technology.
