Together Business is an Indigenous-led Chartered Accounting firm supporting Indigenous businesses and social enterprises across Australia.
We are entering our next stage of growth and are seeking a Practice & Compliance Operations Manager to lead the operational spine of our firm.
This is not a tax-hero role.
This is a leadership and systems role.

The Role
You will lead the day-to-day operational delivery of our bookkeeping and compliance services. Your mandate is simple:
- Ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensure documentation standards are enforced.
- Ensure work is review-ready before Director sign-off.
- Ensure the team operates with clarity and accountability.
You will manage onshore and offshore team members and own the compliance calendar.
The Founder retains final sign-off authority.
Your role is to ensure work reaches that stage structured and complete.
What Success Looks Like
- Compliance lodgements delivered on time without last-minute chaos.
- Files presented to the Director are materially complete and organised.
- Documentation standards are consistently applied across the team.
- Work is returned for correction when required — not silently fixed.
- Offshore staff operate clearly and confidently within defined scope.
- The Founder is not required to manage workflow or correct preventable issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the compliance calendar (BAS, IAS, tax returns, financial statements).
- Allocate work across team members and offshore support.
- Enforce documentation and checklist standards.
- Conduct pre-review quality control before Director sign-off.
- Lead performance conversations and hold team members accountable.
- Monitor capacity and plan for peak periods in advance.
- Respond to routine compliance queries and escalate appropriately.
About You
You are:
- Experienced in managing an accounting or compliance team.
- Comfortable returning work repeatedly to uphold standards.
- Calm under pressure and structured in your thinking.
- Confident leading both local and remote/offshore team members.
- Process-driven and systems-oriented.
- Comfortable reporting into a strong founder-led structure.
You do not need to be a deep technical tax specialist.
Technical review support can be accessed externally where required.
You do need to be strong in leadership, workflow control, and operational discipline.
