As we look ahead to an exciting year, we are seeking a passionate and experienced sales professional to lead our Reservations and Events team, someone who thrives on creating exceptional experiences while
driving performance and strong commercial outcomes.
The Opportunity:
As Director of Event Sales, you will lead revenue strategy across a portfolio of venues, from a century-old grand hotel to distinctive restaurants across Melbourne. You will inspire a sales team and cultivate key relationships across corporate, government, MICE and leisure sectors.
You will oversee the Events and Reservations team, driving social and corporate event sales while ensuring a seamless, highly personalised client journey from initial enquiry to flawless execution. Working with the Managing Director, General Manager, Venue Leaders, and operational teams you will shape the group’s events strategy and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Partnering with internal teams and external suppliers you will ensure every event, from weddings and corporate functions to private celebrations are executed with precision and creativity reflecting the quality and reputation of our venues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities, responding to enquiries promptly and professionally, while resolving client issues to ensure exceptional experiences.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing Events & Reservations team across multiple venues.
- Develop and implement group-wide sales strategies to increase bookings, maximise revenue and leverage cross-selling opportunities, particularly with the Rooms Division.
- Oversee CRM systems, event software, and reporting to optimise operational efficiency, pipeline management, and sales performance tracking.
- Manage the planning and flawless execution of a diverse range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, private dining, and special celebrations.
- Build and maintain strong client, supplier, and internal team relationships, identifying opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
What You Will Bring:
- A genuine passion for creating and delivering exceptional events across our collection of venues
- Senior-level event sales experience with proven leadership and team management capability.
- Exceptional eye for detail and a deep understanding of what makes an event truly remarkable, with the ability to tailor experiences across a variety of venue concepts.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or group-level sales operations.
- Commercially minded, with a strong focus on revenue growth, maximising venue utilisation and identifying new markets and opportunities.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
- Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to adapt sales and event strategies to highlight each venue’s unique point of difference.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in event management and CRM platforms, including Opera Cloud, Tripleseat, and SevenRooms.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to
work across multiple venues, including evenings and weekends as required.
