SENIOR SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Sydney | Live Events & Production Technology
Join TDC, Australia’s leading video technology and production company. We’re looking for a skilled Senior Service Technician to help keep our hire equipment reliable, safe, and ready for show time.
This role sits at the heart of our operations – servicing, maintaining, and repairing projection, LED, and entertainment technology so our live events, theatre productions, and broadcast projects run smoothly when it matters most.
As a Service Technician, you’ll be responsible for high-quality repairs, testing, and preventative maintenance across TDC’s hire equipment. You’ll diagnose faults early, manage repairs effectively, and help ensure issues are resolved before equipment reaches site.
You’ll work closely with the Operations, Warehouse, and Technical teams in a collaborative environment, with the opportunity to attend live event sites when needed to support complex or time-critical fault resolution.
This is a hands-on technical role with scope to support and mentor others across the service and technical teams.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Servicing, repairing, and maintaining TDC’s hire equipment so it’s reliable, safe, and ready for shows.
- Diagnosing and fixing technical faults across LED, projection, and display systems – including the tricky ones.
- Putting preventative maintenance processes in place (including firmware and software updates) to reduce breakdowns.
- Managing repair jobs, tracking work, getting quotes, and coordinating outsourced repairs when needed.
- Working closely with the warehouse and operations teams to prioritise what needs fixing and when.
- Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to help resolve faults and technical issues.
- Supporting live events by attending site when required for complex or time-critical fault resolution.
- Helping train support and sharing best-practice equipment care with technicians.
- Improving how we do things by contributing to SOPs, documentation, and better ways of working.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Solid hands-on experience with LED, projection, display, and AV equipment in live events, broadcast, or production environments.
- Strong fault-finding skills, with a practical understanding of electronics (including soldering).
- A solid understanding of fibre-optic systems and how to work with them safely and reliably in live event or production setups.
- Confidence troubleshooting equipment under pressure and figuring things out when the clock is ticking.
- The ability to juggle multiple jobs, prioritise what matters, and keep things moving.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with warehouse, ops, and technical teams.
- A calm, level-headed approach when things go wrong (because sometimes they do).
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a genuine interest in learning and improving.
- Willingness to share knowledge, support others, and help lift overall equipment care standards.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
- Competitive, industry-aligned salary.
- Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Exposure to high-profile live events, theatre, and broadcast projects.
- A collaborative, technically driven team environment.
- The opportunity to work with cutting-edge video technology every day.
