Registered Nurse – Day Surgery Coordinator

We are pleased to offer an exciting internal opportunity for a Registered Nurse to take on a key role in pre-operative patient screening at our Westmead site.

Given the patient cohort is mainly elderly, with multiple co-morbidities and complex medications, this role is ideal for a nurse who is highly organised, clinically confident, and passionate about delivering safe, high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring patients are appropriately prepared for their procedures, supporting both clinical outcomes and the overall patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, including medical history review and risk identification;
• Liaise with patients to ensure all required documentation and investigations are completed prior to surgery;
• Collaborate closely with medical staff and the day surgery team to support efficient theatre scheduling;
• Provide clear patient education and instructions in preparation for procedures;
• Escalate any clinical concerns appropriately to ensure patient safety.

About You:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse;
• Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team;
• Experience in pre-admissions, day surgery, or perioperative nursing (desirable but not essential).
