Assistant Accountant (Accounts Receivable Officer)

TGI Sport Marketing (Aust) Pty Ltd • Cremorne, Victoria 3121, Australia • Full-time

Description

Join the TGI Sport Team:

TGI Sport is a tech-led global sports media company that is trusted by the world’s premium sporting organisations since 1997. With over 15 offices and 500 employees worldwide, we support over 5,000 events through pioneering technology solutions, global media rights expertise and leading sports marketing knowledge.

Within our Corporate Services team, the Finance department plays a crucial role in partnering across all areas of the business to ensure smooth financial operations. This role sits within Finance and supports the TGI Sport Merchandise business, managing the end-to-end accounts receivable function and providing support to accounts payable as required.

The Opportunity:

We’re seeking an early-career Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Melbourne, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our highly transactional Merchandise business. This role is ideal for a recent accounting or finance graduate.

You’ll gain exposure to the full accounting cycle, from raising invoices and managing cash flow through to balance sheet reconciliations and monthly P&L reporting. You’ll be supported by an experienced finance team, with on-the-job coaching, clear processes and alongside meaningful, hands-on work.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll become the go-to person for Accounts Receivable, raising daily sales invoices from NetSuite based on fulfilled orders, receipting customer payments and keeping debtor balances accurate and up to date. You’ll prepare weekly debtor reports, send monthly customer statements and follow up overdue accounts in a professional, customer-focused way that supports long-term relationships.

You’ll support the Accounts Payable Officer by helping to process supplier invoices accurately and on time, assisting with weekly payment runs and managing data uploads for business travel and corporate card expenditure. This will give you a strong understanding of the full procure-to-pay cycle and how it impacts cash flow.

You’ll also build your technical accounting skills by assisting with core month-end tasks, including daily bank reconciliations, tracking cash flow movements, preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting ATO statutory payments such as PAYG, GST and FBT. Throughout, you’ll work closely with the broader Finance team, learning best-practice processes and contributing to continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
  • A desire to continue studying towards professional accreditation (CPA or CA) (desirable)
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable
  • Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets and financial systems (Excel, NetSuite and SharePoint)
  • A clear and professional communicator who is confident building positive relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • You’re organised, reliable and able to manage competing deadlines without losing sight of accuracy or quality.
  • You’re curious, eager to learn, open to feedback and enjoy working as part of a supportive team in a fast-paced environment.

An interest in sport and the commercial sports landscape in Australia will help you connect with our business and our clients, but a genuine enthusiasm to learn and grow in the role is just as important.

The TGI Sport Advantage:

TGI Sport is uniquely positioned to bring together technology, creativity, expertise, and talent to deliver solutions that set us apart on the global stage. This creates unparalleled opportunities – not just for our partners, but for our people as well.

  • Growth of our people: We prioritise individualised career development and progression. Learning and Development at TGI Sport spans in-house training programs and on-the-job learning, ensuring your growth aligns with our success.
