The Tasmania Devils Football Club is on a historic journey to build a professional AFL/AFLW club from the ground up. We are assembling a passionate and committed team to connect with fans across Tasmania and beyond, creating experiences that inspire pride, loyalty, and belonging.

Role Purpose

The People & Culture Lead is responsible for establishing and embedding the foundational people systems, processes and cultural frameworks that will underpin the Tasmania Devils Football Club. This role will shape the employee experience from the ground up, supporting onboarding, induction, learning and development, and implementing the Devils Why & Way across all areas of the Club. Your responsibilities will include:

Core People Processes & Frameworks

  • Establish and maintain core P&C policies, procedures and frameworks aligned to best practice and AFL industry standards
  • Support the optimisation of HR systems and processes, including HRIS (Employment Hero experience desirable)
  • Ensure employment compliance, documentation and governance standards are met
  • Contribute to workforce planning, performance development and remuneration frameworks

Employee Experience & Onboarding

  • Design and deliver best-practice onboarding and induction programs
  • Ensure new employees are effectively integrated into the Club’s culture and operating environment
  • Support managers with probation, performance and employee lifecycle processes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and streamline people administration processes

Learning & Development

  • Identify capability gaps and support the development of learning initiatives aligned to Club priorities
  • Embed performance development processes that promote accountability and growth
  • Partner with leaders to build high-performing, engaged teams

Culture & Values Implementation

  • Embed the Devils Why & Way into everyday behaviours, systems and leadership practices
  • Support employee engagement initiatives that foster connection, pride and belonging
  • Champion inclusion, wellbeing and a safe, respectful workplace
  • Provide trusted advice to leaders on people-related matters

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a generalist or senior People & Culture role with a track record in establishing and optimising foundational HR systems and processes
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting onboarding, induction and employee lifecycle processes

Desirable Experience

  • Experience implementing or optimising an HRIS (Employment Hero experience advantageous)
  • Experience in a start-up, scale-up or build environment
  • Exposure to high-performance sporting or membership-based organisations
  • Experience leading learning and development initiatives
