About the Role

Syenta is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee laboratory infrastructure, cleanroom operations, and the systems that enable safe, efficient, and high-quality experimental work. In this role, you will support the development and operation of scalable cleanroom and laboratory facilities, establish robust laboratory processes, and ensure the environment supports both current research activities and future growth.

You will foster a strong safety culture while implementing standardised procedures, operational workflows, and laboratory management systems that enable reliable and compliant laboratory operations. Working closely with laboratory teams, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and cross-functional technical teams, you will help maintain high-performance laboratory environments that support advanced technology development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory and cleanroom operations, ensuring compliance with ISO 14644, GLP/GMP, and internal safety standards.

  • Design and implement efficient laboratory and cleanroom layouts that support experimental workflows and future scalability.

  • Define laboratory infrastructure and equipment requirements, supporting the sourcing and setup of new laboratory or cleanroom spaces.

  • Coordinate installation, commissioning, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and process stations.

  • Implement asset management, maintenance scheduling, and equipment tracking systems to minimise downtime and maintain operational readiness.

  • Develop and maintain laboratory SOPs, training programs, and competency frameworks for safe and consistent operations.

  • Standardise laboratory equipment, procedures, and operational processes across teams and sites where applicable.

  • Monitor laboratory performance metrics (e.g., equipment uptime, workflow efficiency, throughput) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure environmental health, safety, and regulatory compliance across all laboratory activities and facilities.

  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technical teams to support experimental workflows, technology development, and integrated product programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience managing fab or cleanroom operations

  • 8+ years of experience in technology development, preferably within semiconductor advanced packaging

  • Strong knowledge of metrology tools and their applications

  • Experience establishing or scaling technical laboratory environments

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical processes clearly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science discipline

  • Experience contributing to facility expansion or new site build-outs

  • Background in yield improvement or process optimisation within semiconductor environments

  • Experience working in a high-growth or startup setting
