About the Role
We are seeking a technically strong and customer-focused Field Engineer to join our Engineering Services team.
Reporting to the Field Engineering Supervisor, this role plays a critical part in strengthening Swagelok’s position as a trusted engineering partner by providing high-level technical advisory, system analysis, and engineering insight across a wide range of customer applications. You will operate as a subject matter expert, supporting both customers and internal teams in understanding, diagnosing, and optimising fluid system performance.
This role is centred around engineering analysis and advisory, rather than hands-on execution. You will work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to evaluate system performance, identify risks, validate engineering assumptions, and recommend technically sound and commercially viable solutions. Your involvement will span the full customer lifecycle—from early-stage discovery and qualification through to troubleshooting, optimisation, and long-term system improvement.
A key part of the role involves conducting on-site system evaluations across applications such as analytical instrumentation systems, process instrumentation systems, gas distribution systems, sampling systems, and high-pressure fluid systems. You will assess system performance, review installation practices, perform engineering calculations, and interpret field findings to produce structured engineering reports that clearly outline risks, root causes, and recommended improvements.
You will also play a critical role in bridging field conditions with engineering design, working closely with Sales, On-Site Services, and Custom Solutions teams to ensure customer requirements, site constraints, and engineering considerations are fully understood and translated into practical, high-quality solutions. This includes supporting technical discussions, reviewing designs, and contributing to complex problem-solving activities where advanced engineering input is required.
Beyond customer engagement, the role contributes to internal capability development, acting as a technical resource for engineering and on-site teams. You will guide and support others in applying engineering best practices, interpreting system behaviour, and improving technical decision-making across the organisation.
The role also requires a strong focus on continuous learning and application expertise, with responsibility for developing knowledge across Swagelok’s core application areas—including analytical instrumentation, process instrumentation, mechanical systems, and gas distribution systems—while adapting to emerging markets such as hydrogen and clean energy. This ensures that your engineering advice remains relevant, forward-looking, and aligned with Swagelok’s global standards and strategic direction.
