Our vision is a world where human rights are respected and violations are challenged. Our mission is to support survivors of torture and trauma to find their voices and rebuild their lives.

About the role

We are seeking a bright, proactive, and culturally sensitive Receptionist to provide first-contact, front-of-house support to the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Support and Administration Lead, this position will be responsible for ensuring all who contact STTARS receive a warm, respectful, and trauma-informed welcome and are assisted and directed appropriately.

This position is worked across set days and hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and an ability to adjust based on competing priorities. A commitment to consistently providing a high standard of work is essential.

  • Respond to telephone, email, and in-person enquiries in a timely, confidential, and culturally sensitive manner
  • Manage appointment bookings, confirmations, changes, and interpreter requests accurately in consultation with relevant staff
  • Maintain the waiting room and reception area in a clean, calm, organised, and welcoming state

About You

You are organised, approachable, and committed to delivering respectful, client-centred service. This role would be particularly well suited to someone with a strong background in reception or front-of-house environments, such as a medical receptionist or similar.

You will demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A professional, calm, and empathetic manner
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office systems
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to develop an understanding of, issues affecting refugees, asylum seekers, and people who have experienced torture and trauma

If you are committed to providing respectful, trauma-informed service and would like to contribute to an organisation making a meaningful difference, we encourage you to apply.
