About the Role

The NDIS Disability Support Worker provides person-centred care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, supporting their independence, well-being, and participation in the community. This role involves delivering tailored support in daily activities, personal care, social engagement, and skill development in line with each participant’s NDIS plan. The support worker ensures a safe, respectful, and empowering environment, promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion

Provide person-centred care and support in line with the participant’s NDIS plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Support participants in developing independent living skills.
  • Facilitate and encourage social participation and community engagement.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and the use of assistive equipment as required.
  • Monitor and respond to the participant’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Administer medication (if trained and required)
  • Implement behaviour support strategies where necessary.
  • Encourage and support healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Advocate for participant rights, dignity, and choice.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Follow NDIS standards, policies, and workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and progress notes as required
  • Report incidents, concerns, or changes in participant needs.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and privacy guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development.
  • Stay informed about best practices in disability support
  • Engage in team meetings and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Skills & Experience

• Experience providing direct support to individuals with disabilities, mental health conditions, or complex needs.

• Assisting with personal care, daily living tasks, and mobility support.

• Implementing person-centred care and behaviour support strategies.

• Supporting individuals in community participation and social activities.

Required Certifications and Checks

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Community Services, or a related field (or willingness to obtain).

• First Aid and CPR certification.

• Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP)

• NDIS Worker Screening Check

• National Police Check
