Stepping Stone House is a not-for-profit charity that provides accommodation and personal development for children and young people aged 12-24 years old who through no fault of their own find themselves homeless, at risk of homelessness or unable to live at home. About the Role 

We are seeking a passionate and values‑driven House Coordinator to provide operational leadership and therapeutic oversight of a Semi‑Independent Living Program (SILP) house. 

Reporting to the Area Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, trauma‑informed care, supporting young people to build skills, regulate emotions, achieve stability, progress toward permanency, and successfully transition to less intensive supports or independence. 

What you will be doing – Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide clear leadership and day‑to‑day management of the SILP house and staff team 

  • Provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that feels like home 

  • Manage occupancy, house presentation, maintenance, WH&S, budgets, rostering and daily operations 

  • Respond to and manage incidents in a timely, trauma‑informed manner 

  • Support young people’s placement stability, transitions and step‑down planning in collaboration with Case Managers, Therapeutic Services and stakeholders 

  • Ensure compliance with OCG standards, organisational policies, safeguarding and accreditation requirements 

  • Build strong relationships with young people, families and community stakeholders while role‑modelling Stepping Stone House values and child‑safe practice 

 

About You – Selection Criteria   

Essential criteria 

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline (or Diploma with equivalent experience) 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential or OOHC leadership roles 

  • Demonstrated experience supporting young people with complex needs 

  • Strong understanding of trauma‑informed and therapeutic frameworks 

  • Proven ability to supervise, coach and develop staff 

  • Sound knowledge of legislative, governance and accreditation requirements 

  • Strong communication, problem‑solving and leadership skills 

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check & police check

 

Desirable criteria  

  • Experience within Semi‑Independent or Independent Living Programs 

  • Financial and rostering management experience 

  • Experience working collaboratively with external stakeholders
