ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Mirrabooka Campus, reporting to the Faculty Manager – Nursing.

 

In this role, you will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of simulation-based learning experiences that replicate real-world clinical environments. Combining hands-on technical expertise with educational innovation, you will ensure simulation programs align with course learning outcomes, accreditation requirements, and industry standards. You will work closely with academic staff and clinical partners to support student development, foster clinical confidence, and enhance critical thinking through immersive, high-quality training experiences. Your contribution will be instrumental in preparing students to become practice-ready graduates while supporting the College’s commitment to excellence in education and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Simulation Program Design and Delivery

  • Coordinate and deliver high-fidelity and low-fidelity simulation sessions, aligned with unit learning outcomes and clinical standards.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to develop and embed realistic, scenario-based learning experiences.
  • Maintain simulation schedules, ensuring smooth integration into timetabled classes.

Equipment and Lab Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the simulation and skills labs, including setup and pack-down for sessions.
  • Maintain and calibrate simulation equipment (e.g., manikins, task trainers, clinical supplies) to ensure full functionality and readiness.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, purchasing consumables and liaising with suppliers as required.

Staff and Student Support

  • Support nursing educators in preparing for and delivering simulation-based activities.
  • Guide students in practising clinical skills safely, correctly, and confidently during lab sessions.
  • Always demonstrate and promote WHS and infection control protocols.

Student Support and Development

  • Provide end-to-end support to students during clinical placements and lab sessions, from preparation to completion.
  • Conduct pre-placement briefings to set clear expectations, ensuring students are well-prepared for their clinical experiences.
  • Offer guidance and feedback on practical skills and safety, promoting best practices and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Continuous Improvement and Compliance

  • Contribute to quality assurance processes by evaluating simulation effectiveness and implementing improvements.
  • Stay updated with current simulation and clinical education trends, technologies, and teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, ASQA standards, ANMAC accreditation, and relevant nursing regulations.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with clinical placement partners to align simulation learning with real-world expectations.
  • Engage in curriculum review and improvement projects with the academic team.
  • Provide training to new staff on lab systems, equipment use, and simulation facilitation techniques.

Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of innovation across Stanley College through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Align with the institution’s vision, mission, and values in all activities, contributing to organisational growth and development
  • Engage in strategic initiatives and key issues, actively participating in departmental and organisational initiatives
  • Proactively recommend sensible changes and communicate issues affecting Stanley College’s effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and workflows, streamlining administrative processes
  • Maintain accessible documentation and associated processes, facilitating efficient operations
  • Promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce, contributing to a discrimination-free workplace environment
  • Collaborate with the Operations Team to develop and implement business growth strategies, including tender activities and related projects
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk management and quality assurance frameworks
  • Assist in various areas as directed by the Line Manager or delegate, ensuring organisational agility and responsiveness
  • Lead and contribute to the automation of key business and educational processes, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent
  • Relevant Nursing Qualification such as a Diploma of Nursing or higher, demonstrating a solid foundation in clinical practice and educational standards
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating or delivering clinical simulation and practical nursing training in an educational or healthcare setting.
  • A supportive and student-focused mindset, dedicated to creating a positive and enriching learning experience
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to students, ensuring their success and development in simulation lab activities.
  • Experience supporting students or new graduate nurses in clinical skill development, including feedback and supervision during hands-on practice.

Personal Attributes

  • In-depth knowledge of nursing education, including the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) standards, Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) requirements, and other relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, academic staff, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies
  • Strong commitment to fostering a culture of educational excellence and student success through continuous improvement of teaching, learning, and clinical practice
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining simulation lab equipment, including calibration, safety checks, and inventory management
  • High-level problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to managing lab environments and addressing equipment or safety issues
