ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Mirrabooka Campus Nursing Department, reporting to the Faculty Manager – Nursing.
In this role, you will support and guide nursing students throughout their clinical placement journey, acting as a mentor, educator, and assessor in real-world healthcare settings. You will work closely with internal teams and placement partners to ensure students develop the clinical competence, professionalism, and confidence required to meet industry standards and registration requirements. By providing supervision, assessment, and constructive feedback, you will play a critical role in bridging theory and practice, ensuring students achieve their learning outcomes while upholding the highest standards of patient care, safety, and compliance. Your contribution will directly support the development of practice-ready graduates and the College’s commitment to delivering high-quality education outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support and Supervision
- Supervise and mentor students during clinical placements across aged care, acute, community, or other health care settings.
- Observe, assess, and guide students in applying theoretical knowledge to practical care with professionalism, accuracy, and empathy.
- Provide constructive, timely feedback and support individual student development.
Clinical Assessment and Evaluation
- Assess students against learning outcomes and performance benchmarks using structured tools and assessment criteria.
- Identify students requiring additional support and work collaboratively with academic staff to provide remediation or further guidance.
- Document student progress, incidents, and concerns accurately and in accordance with Stanley College’s reporting standards.
Professional Engagement and Communication
- Liaise with placement providers and site staff to ensure smooth coordination and resolution of issues during placement.
- Uphold Stanley College’s professional standards and ensure students represent the institution with integrity and respect.
- Attend team meetings, training, and briefing sessions as required.
Student Support and Development
- Provide end-to-end support to students during clinical placements and lab sessions, from preparation to completion.
- Conduct pre-placement briefings to set clear expectations, ensuring students are well prepared for their clinical experiences.
- Offer guidance and feedback on practical skills and safety, promoting best practices and fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Act as the main point of contact between Stanley College and placement providers during student placements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, clinical educator.
- Escalate concerns related to student performance, placement site issues, or duty of care risks to the Faculty Manager.
Compliance, Safety, and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and reinforce adherence to relevant workplace health and safety, infection control, and patient privacy protocols.
- Report any incidents, risks, or breaches in compliance according to organisational policy and clinical placement requirements.
- Maintain a current understanding of AHPRA regulations, industry changes, and vocational education frameworks.
Assessment, Feedback and Reporting
- Assess students’ competence using standardised clinical assessment tools, including Skills Assessment Checklists and Workbooks.
- Deliver timely, constructive feedback to promote learning, self-awareness, and continuous improvement.
- Complete placement reports, incident documentation, and academic referrals as required.
- Participate in pre-placement briefing sessions, student orientation, and post-placement debriefs.
- Share clinical insights and feedback with academic teams to support curriculum development and alignment.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of placement resources, such as facilitation guides and checklists.
Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Foster a culture of innovation across Stanley College through continuous improvement initiatives
- Align with the institution’s vision, mission, and values in all activities, contributing to organisational growth and development.
- Engage in strategicminitiatives and key issues, actively participating in departmental and
organisational initiatives.
- Proactively recommend sensible changes and communicate issues affecting Stanley College’s effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and workflows, streamlining administrative processes.
- Maintain accessible documentation and associated processes, facilitating efficient operations
- Promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce, contributing to a discrimination-free workplace environment.
- Collaborate with the Operations Team to develop and implement business growth strategies, including tender activities and related projects.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk management and quality assurance frameworks.
- Assist in various areas as directed by the Line Manager or delegate, ensuring organisational agility and responsiveness.
- Lead and contribute to the automation of key business and educational processes, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications and experience:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent
- Relevant Nursing Qualification such as a Diploma of Nursing or higher, demonstrating a solid foundation in clinical practice and educational standards
- Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience in aged care, acute care, mental health, or community health settings.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, supervising or precepting students or new graduate nurses in a workplace or academic setting.
- Familiarity with current nursing best practices, clinical procedures, and patient care protocols.
- Experience in evaluating clinical performance and providing feedback constructively and professionally.
- Strong understanding of WHS, infection control,
patient privacy, and duty of care obligations in healthcare settings.
Personal Attributes:
- Sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practices, procedures, and standards of care across various clinical settings.
- Understanding of student learning needs in clinical environments, including adult learning principles and the role of clinical supervision in vocational education.
- Strong working knowledge of AHPRA professional standards, the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, and the Code of Conduct for Nurses.
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, infection control practices, and risk management in clinical placements.
- Familiarity with documentation and record-keeping requirements in both educational and healthcare settings.
- Awareness of ANMAC accreditation requirements and ASQA standards relevant to Diploma of Nursing programs.
