The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Building Site Supervisor to oversee multiple construction projects across Northern Tasmania. This role is central to ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to exceptional quality standards, while fostering a strong culture of workplace health and safety.

Primary Objectives

As the Building Site Supervisor, you will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple construction sites
  • Lead site safety and promote a strong WHS culture
  • Manage multi-residential construction projects from start to completion
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Communication

  • Represent SJAH professionally, demonstrating our mission and values.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and high-performing team culture.
  • Work closely with internal teams and senior management.

Site & Project Management

  • Supervise all onsite construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Issue purchase orders and manage project schedules.
  • Support procurement to maintain program timelines.
  • Approve invoices aligned with project budgets.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all works meet the Building Code of Australia.
  • Maintain high-quality construction standards.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafe Tasmania regulations.

Work Health & Safety (WHS)

  • Promote and maintain best-practice WHS culture.
  • Ensure all sites comply with WHS policies and legislation
  • Protect the safety of staff, contractors, clients, and visitors.

About You

You are a proactive, solutions-focused professional with strong leadership and organisational skills. You take pride in delivering quality outcomes and maintaining safe, efficient worksites.

Selection Criteria

  1. Cert IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma in Building & Construction
  2. Builder’s Licence (desirable)
  3. Minimum 5 years’ experience supervising multi-residential projects
  4. Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, planning regulations, and the Building Code of Australia
  5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  6. Proven ability to manage trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  7. Alignment with SJAH’s mission and values.
  8. Understanding of the Catholic Church’s operations in Tasmania (desirable)
  9. Current Driver’s Licence
  10. Ability to obtain a National Police Check, Working with Vulnerable People registration (Tasmania) and a Pre-employment medical clearance.
