About the Opportunity

For over ten years, Sprout Artisan Bakery has been building an award-winning reputation for sourdough bread and pastry. Now we’ve evolved to open our very first café restaurant, and we’re looking for a Café & Retail Manager to help us define what this next chapter looks like — as well as staying across and overseeing our other (well-oiled) retail sites.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a brand-new kitchen backed by a business with deep roots, loyal customers, and genuinely outstanding baked goods already on the table. You’ll be responsible for leading and supporting our Front of House team and fostering a positive working environment, liaising with and supporting our kitchen, managing stock control and giving exceptional customer service.

About the Role

You’ll be the heartbeat of our front-of-house operation — someone who leads with warmth, thinks operationally, and genuinely cares about the experience every customer has. You’ll work closely with our kitchen team and retail sites to ensure seamless daily operations across the whole Sprout family.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting our Front of House team and fostering a positive, high-performing work environment
  • Overseeing daily café and retail operations, ensuring service standards are consistently exceptional
  • Liaising closely with our kitchen team to support smooth collaboration between FOH and BOH
  • Managing stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships across café and retail sites
  • Delivering and championing an outstanding customer experience that reflects the Sprout brand
  • Rostering, performance management, and onboarding of new team members
  • Monitoring financial performance including sales, waste, and labour cost targets
  • Overseeing and supporting our existing retail sites to maintain operational consistency
  • Handling escalations, customer feedback, and day-to-day problem solving with calm and good judgment

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality management role
  • Strong leadership presence — someone who can inspire a team while getting into the detail when needed
  • A genuine passion for food, quality, and the customer experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the business
  • Sound commercial acumen — you understand the numbers and know how to move them
  • Experience with stock management, ordering systems, and supplier liaison
  • Calm, solutions-focused under pressure, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • An eye for detail and a high personal standard for presentation and service
  • Strong understanding of Food Health and Safety

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience opening or launching a new hospitality venue
  • Background in artisan food, specialty coffee, or premium retail
  • Familiarity with POS and inventory management platforms
  • Multi-site management experience
