Rearing/Production Manager (Poultry)

Specialised Breeders Australia (SBA) is

We are currently seeking a Rearing/Production Manager for our Central Victorian farms.
Bendigo is the closest regional city with
plenty of available shopping, schools, community resources, TAFE and
university.
As the successful person you will bring a
competent set of skills and experience to support quality rearing and
production processes and supervise and manage team members.
In addition to having the required poultry
experience you must be excellent with people and able to bring out the best in
individual performance. Experience within a compliance environment will be
highly regarded (e.g. quality, biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, etc.).
This is a salaried role with an annual bonus
available, subject to performance. SBA provides all required uniform and work
equipment, and an Employee Assistance Program is available to staff and their
immediate family members. Days of work may be negotiable with an understanding
that on-call work will form part of the agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Adhering to SBA’s flock management program
and procedures.
• Adhering to SBA’s Quality Management
System.
• Maintaining and monitoring biosecurity and
animal welfare standards.
• Supervision and management of a small
team.
Duties:
• Promote a positive workplace culture and
bring out the best in your team.
• Provide direction and training to workers,
ensuring that the standards and objectives set by management are achieved.
• Rearing and production duties and
compliance with bird welfare at all times.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests,
referring issues promptly as required.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Out-of-hours on-call duties as rostered or
required.
Personal skills and attributes required:
• You must have up to 5 years of proven experience
in a poultry environment, with rearing and production experience as part of
this.
• Reliability: you will be responsible for
day-to-day operations and staff in your area on your days of work and will
provide leave coverage to other Farm Managers.
• You must be able to follow the direction
of the Livestock Manager, and SBA’s quality manual.
• You will need the strength of character to
support a positive workplace culture.
• Your positive communication skills will
also encourage feedback from your team and provide clear direction back to your
team.
• Experience with supervising and managing
people, whether in a workplace or voluntary capacity.
Remuneration: Annual salary range of $80,000 to $86,000,
negotiable based on experience. Annual
performance bonuses may apply.
Relevant information:
• Employees cannot keep birds or pigs at
their place of residence or live with someone working in these industries.
• The successful individual will need to
have satisfactorily completed a reference check and pre-employment medical
prior to receiving a formal job offer.
• A current, Victorian driver’s licence is
required for this role along with reliable transport to get to and from work.
• Reasonable overtime is part of this role
and forms part of the negotiated salary.
