The role  

SEC Newgate’s Communications team is looking for an experienced stakeholder engagement and communications professional to work on projects that help clients make a difference. As part of our team, you’ll contribute to complex, meaningful work and be central to delivering integrated solutions for clients.   

We are looking for someone who thrives on delivering high-quality outcomes in dynamic environments – someone with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, who brings professionalism and adaptability to their work.  

The successful candidate will have experience in stakeholder engagement for complex regulated businesses, with experience in regulatory engagement and past work with utilities being highly valued.  

This position is based in Sydney CBD, with hybrid working arrangements available. While full-time employment is preferred, we are open to part-time (four days per week) for the right candidate.

 

We are looking for a high-performing consultant who is: 

  • Collaborative: great interpersonal skills and enjoys working with others to achieve best possible outcomes 

  • Adaptable: flexibility to adapt to changing needs of clients, and ability to adjust when tight timeframes are required 

  • Curious and proactive: you will have a can-do attitude and able to identify and/or support innovative ideas to progress projects for clients 

  • Calm and dedicated: the ability to balance multiple deadlines and the demands of cross-border transaction environment 

  • Self-starter: able to manage workstreams and deliverables as well as collaborate within client teams 

  • A genuine and keen interest in communications, current affairs, government and the media with established networks in these areas 

  • Committed to your ongoing professional development 

Typical practical skills and experience should include: 

  • 5-10 years in a media, or communications role in a corporate, government and/or consulting environment. 

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and, ideally, past work with utilities and particularly energy network businesses  

  • Strong writing capabilities and the confidence and ability to write clearly and succinctly 

  • Strong analytical skills to absorb complex information and turning it into clear and concise information 

  • Organisation skills – capable of setting up and adhering to your own system of structuring your workday 

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and listening skills 

  • Positive approach with a good sense of humour
