Location: Our new head office is located in Glendenning (2761), however, this role is primarily based on the road across metro Sydney with some occasional regional travel required.

The Role 

Steel Builders is currently seeking experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) based in Sydney. As the BDM, you are responsible for the day-to-day management of business development for Steel Builders across NSW. The role will focus on attracting customers in NSW while maintaining and managing customer driven tasks. As a part of the Steel Builders team, you are expected to role model the values and behaviours to ensure a high performing and engaged culture. This role will sit within the Sales team and contribute to the business efficiency and continuity. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Attract and retain new customers in the Sydney region 

  • Create and execute strategic plans including channel management 

  • Develop long-term relationships with key customers to deliver strategic outcomes 

  • Deliver against KPIs including financials and market share objectives 

  • Identify relevant distribution opportunities within channels for supply of hardware lines 

  • Cross-collaborating with internal departments to facilitate client need fulfillment 

  • Maintain records of activity and pipeline within CRM system (HubSpot) 

  • Ensure ongoing compliance for all invoicing and customer data 

  • Comply with all Steel Builders policies and expected behaviours 

 

Key Criteria 

Essential: 

  • Experienced business development within building supplies or construction industries  

  • A full drivers’ licence 

  • Proven experience with strategic market analysis and channel planning 

  • Proven ability to grow client base and achieve sales budgets and KPIs 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 

  • Intermediate computer software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint) 

  Desirable: 

  • Understanding of steel manufacturing in both the domestic and commercial sectors 

  • Experience with CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce
