About the role
Working in a dynamic digital-first environment that operates 24hrs, 7 days a week, Community Engagement Facilitators interact with the SANE community, referral partners and the general public, providing information on SANE’s services, offering education and linkage to external services. The role is pivotal in shaping a positive participant experience and ensuring safety, through facilitating engagement in SANE’s RecoveryClub, moderating forums and social media and supporting welcome and engagement journeys. This role works on a fortnightly roster, with evening and overnight work being essential.
Key responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:
·Respond to inbound calls, web chats, SMS, and emails professionally and empathetically,
following SANE procedures.
·Provide high-quality, trauma-informed mental health support that promotes hope,
empowerment, and autonomy.
·Engage RecoveryClub participants with prompts, praise, navigation, troubleshooting, and support for self-guided journeys.
·Manage workflows in a timely manner to support a positive participant experience and
escalate when needed.
·Monitor and moderate forum discussions, applying community guidelines, removing or
editing content, and escalating issues.
·Contribute to content creation by seeding topics, amplifying valuable contributions,
running activities, and tagging content.
·Identify forum members who may need higher-intensity support and ensure accurate, up-to-date records management.
·Work within a team and participate in a roster that includes evenings, weekends, overnight shifts.
·Co-facilitate online group sessions, fostering a safe and welcoming space, managing dynamics,
applying trauma-informed practice, and using Zoom features to enhance interaction.
About You
Community Engagement Facilitator
·At least 1 years’ experience working (paid or volunteer) in a coordination or participant support role, within the mental health or disability industry
·Certificate or Diploma in Mental Health, Community Work, Social Work, Counselling, Peer Work, Welfare, Drug and Alcohol, Youth Work, Aged Care, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Nursing or currently working towards a higher relevant qualification
Peer Community Engagement Facilitator
·Prior experience working within a customer or public facing role
·Certification in Peer Work specific training, such as Intentional Peer Support (IPS)
NB: All Peer Support Navigators will be enrolled in and must complete the Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work within 18 months of date of employment. SANE study leave can be used to contribute to this
Essential Qualification & Experience
·Demonstrated ability and experience working independently and within a team
·Experience in working with diverse populations
