Purpose of the Role
The Logistics Coordinator supports the efficient delivery of materials to projects by
managing the movement, storage, and allocation of materials, equipment, and
vehicles. This position ensures materials are available when required,
deliveries are on schedule, and logistics operations are executed safely,
accurately, and cost-effectively. The role works closely with Project Managers,
Yard, Production and the Supply Chain team to maintain seamless coordination
across multiple project sites. Reports to: Operations Manager
Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate daily transport schedules to ensure timely delivery and collection of fencing materials, plant, and equipment.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontracted carriers, and internal stakeholders to align delivery schedules
with project requirements.
- Priorities loads based on project timelines, site readiness, and operational priorities.
- Assist in planning delivery sequences to minimise downtime.
Warehouse & Yard Operations
- Oversee goods receipting, storage, stock control, and dispatch of materials and consumables.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements within Simpro (or equivalent system).
- Conduct regular stocktakes and track the return and reuse of materials from site.
- Assist in maintaining yard organisation, layout efficiency, and safety standards.
Transport & Fleet Management
- Schedule company trucks and coordinate external carriers for cost-effective and compliant delivery execution.
- Ensure the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles.
- Ensure adherence to Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management, and load restraint requirements.
- Verify driver documentation and ensure delivery paperwork is completed accurately.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation, maintenance schedules, and defect reporting.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in all logistics and yard operations.
- Ensure compliance with company HSEQ procedures and legislative obligations.
- Report incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly, supporting continuous safety improvement.
- Verify that all outgoing loads meet safety, restraint, and compliance standards prior to dispatch.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and report logistics performance metrics including on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and stock accuracy.
- Identify improvement opportunities in scheduling, transport efficiency, and material flow.
- Support procurement and operations teams with logistics data for planning and project cost reviews.
Decision-Making Authority
- Independently make day-to-day decisions regarding delivery sequencing, vehicle allocation, and warehouse operations.
- Escalate significant cost, compliance, or schedule impacts to the Supply Chain Coordinator.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in logistics, transport coordination, or warehouse operations.
- Strong knowledge of CoR, fatigue management, and load restraint principles.
- Proficiency in logistics or ERP systems (e.g., Simpro, SAP, or similar).
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Sound understanding of construction or fencing material handling and site logistics.
Desirable:
- Experience in the commercial construction or civil infrastructure sector.
- Forklift licence or equivalent qualification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 20kg and perform manual handling tasks safely.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors as required.
- Flexibility for early starts, overtime, or weekend work in response to project requirements.
