About the Role
As our Café Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our café operations at our Wacol facility. Leading from the front to deliver an exceptional customer experience while supporting the day-to-day running and growth of the business.
This is a maternity leave cover position, offering a great opportunity to step into a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide and develop your team, drive operational efficiency and ensure the café runs smoothly across both daily trade and events.
You’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming, community-focused space that supports the broader RSPCA Queensland mission and contributes to organisational sustainability.

What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Lead day-to-day café operations, ensuring smooth service and high standards across all areas.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team through coaching, onboarding and regular feedback.
- Oversee rostering, staffing and recruitment to meet operational needs.
- Drive profitability through budgeting, stock control, pricing and promotional initiatives.
- Manage stock ordering, stocktaking and loss prevention.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and customers.
- Deliver exceptional customer experiences and handle feedback or complaints professionally.
- Oversee catering and events, both onsite and external.
- Manage online ordering platforms (including Uber Eats) and menu updates.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS and organisational policies.
- Maintain café presentation, cleanliness and equipment functionality.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Previous experience in a hospitality management role (3+ years preferred).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
- Hands-on operational experience and confidence working on the floor.
- Solid understanding of food safety, WHS and hospitality best practices.
- Commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, stock and P&Ls.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
- A genuine interest in animal welfare and alignment with the RSPCA Queensland mission and values.
- Physical capability to perform manual handling tasks (including lifting up to 10kg).
