The Production & Maintenance Manager – Packhouse
Operations is responsible for the overall management of packhouse production
activities, including planning, coordination and optimisation of production
processes to ensure efficient, safe and high-quality output.
The role has overarching responsibility for production
operations, workforce management and performance outcomes, while also
overseeing maintenance planning and equipment reliability to support continuous
production.
Drawing on extensive experience in plant operations and
maintenance, the position plays a key role in ensuring optimal production
efficiency, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the
operation.
Key operational accountabilities include:
- Plan, coordinate and manage all packhouse production operations

Develop and implement daily and weekly production schedules

Monitor production output, throughput and efficiency against targets

Ensure optimal utilisation of labour, equipment and materials

Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks affecting productivity

Liaise with supply chain and farm operations to align production priorities

Lead and manage production and maintenance teams

Allocate workforce based on production requirements and priorities
-
Monitor employee performance, productivity and compliance
-
Provide training, mentoring and development to staff

Foster a high-performance and safety-focused culture

Oversee maintenance planning, including preventative and corrective programs

Monitor equipment performance, reliability and downtime, coordinating maintenance to minimise disruption

Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, process optimisation and workflow improvements

Ensure compliance with WHS, food safety and quality standards, while managing costs, budgets and inventory levels
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Proven ability and minimum 5 years’ relevant experience and a track record of success in achieving production targets.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to pivot to daily production demands that arise
- Demonstrated ability to develop work plans and achieve the goals of these work plans.
- Good with numbers: analysing cost per unit produced and input into Capital Expenditure that may reduce cost per unit.
- Relationship management skills with the ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- People manager, negotiator and all-round good person that will thrive working in a proactive team (must be a team player).
- Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
- Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
- A current driver’s licence.
