We’re a family-run business, deeply rooted in values that span generations. As we expand, we’re looking for an Almond Irrigation Technician to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms team based in Nericon, NSW.

This is a Full-Time role. The role of the Almond Irrigation Manager is to ensure that Rombola Family Farms irrigation system is operated efficiently and in accordance with the company schedule. The position requires to maintain and repair irrigation systems including replacing valves, fan belts, switches, and contacts.

Key operational accountabilities include:

  • Manage and optimise all irrigation infrastructure, ensuring systems operate efficiently to support crop performance and water-use efficiency.
  • Coordinate irrigation scheduling in collaboration with the Grower and Agronomist, monitoring plant growth, soil moisture and crop health.
  • Maintain irrigation equipment, pumps and systems, including troubleshooting, servicing and repairs.
  • Contribute to production planning including varietal selection, crop scheduling and production systems to meet market timing, quality and volume targets.
  • Lead and support operational staff through supervision, training and performance development while fostering a strong team culture.
  • Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety, chemical handling and company operational procedures while promoting continuous improvement across the operation.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Qualifications in Horticulture and / or Agriculture is highly desired.
  • A work history that highlights irrigation coordination and management in a medium to large enterprise.
  • ChemCert Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with time management, work scheduling and planning irrigation programs.
  • Ability to liaise with agronomists, consultants and suppliers on a range of irrigation matters.
  • Experience in providing advice to management and the ability to communicate at all level.
  • Mechanical aptitude that highlights experience maintaining and repairing irrigation systems.
  • Sound computer literacy skills and experience with irrigation control systems and a flair for technology that enabling us to achieve smart and sustainable farming practices.
  • A good general foundation in the knowledge of plant growth.
  • Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
  • Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
  • A current driver’s licence.
