About the Role

As our Assistant Accountant, you’ll support our financial operations by:

  • Processing day-to-day financial transactions including accounts payable, receipts, and journals with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Assisting with month-end close processes and preparing working papers for management reporting.
  • Managing accounts payable processes, including invoice verification, coding, and payment processing in compliance with company policies.
  • Providing backup support for payroll processing and employee reimbursements.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with reconciliations.
  • Supporting the preparation of financial reports and variance analysis.
  • Assisting with audit procedures and ensuring documentation meets compliance requirements.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives and helping maintain documented procedures.
  • Supporting the finance team during peak periods and leave coverage.
  • Building your knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems and reporting tools.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Commerce (or currently studying toward).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting fundamentals.
  • High attention to detail with excellent accuracy in data entry and processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check (required).

Desirable:

  • Working toward CPA or CA qualification.
  • Experience with cloud-based ERP systems (NetSuite experience advantageous).
  • Previous payroll processing experience.
  • Exposure to accounts payable systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of employee earnings legislation.
