Position Purpose:
The primary responsibility of the Leaving Violence Program Intake Officer is responsible for providing intake and assessment services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have experienced Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and that may be eligible for support to access financial and goods/services for their immediate needs to enable to live in a safe environment.
The Opportunity:
• This position is Full-time with office hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm and is base in Cairns.
• Be a part of a passionate high functioning team delivering The Leaving Violence Program, which is a complementary service to assist eligible and vulnerable individuals to set up a safe home free of violence and case management support for up to 12 weeks.
• Provide intake and assessment services direct to individuals, including conducting risk assessments, safety planning and coordinated service responses in a timely and sensitive manner.
• Ensure that Leaving Violence Program service users files are maintained, up to date in client database/s with relevant documentation in adherence to policies, procedures and associated frameworks.
• Have the ability to work in a performance driven environment to meet individual weekly, monthly and quarterly performance targets.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member
• Well-developed and effective communication skills
About You:
• Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality practices and organisational policy procedures.
• An ability to work in a culturally respectful and competent manner, with Aboriginal young people, their families and communities, to ensure that cultural connections are fostered and maintained.
• Understand the effects and trauma and how they relate to victim/s of Family and Domestic Violence and associated vulnerable family members.
• Have effective time management skills (punctuality, meeting deadlines, prioritising tasks).
• Be a productive, passionate and positive contributor to an already established team that are dedicated in making a difference to vulnerable people’s lives.
• Have a proficient level of computer skills and also of relevant up-to-date technology and software programs.
