Due company expansion, RAATISC are looking for a committed, skilled and passionate individuals to join the friendly RAATSIC team as a Counsellor – Child Witness Domestic Violence Program – Level 4 – Full Time – Cairns based.

Position Purpose:

• This position is critical to the effective and efficient management of the Child Witnesses of Domestic Violence Support service in providing counselling and therapeutic activities to children and young people and families to understand and manage their fears, emotions and behaviours.

The Opportunity:

• This position is Full Time, based in Cairns and regular travel through Cape York communities will be required.

• The Counsellor is to provide information, support and play experiences to children and young people affected by domestic and family violence.

• Maintain client data records and adhere to confidentiality policies and practices.

About You:

• Have extensive knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

• Provide professional advice, counselling support and refer to other support services to the parent / guardian with a specific focus on the needs of their children and young people.

• Have relevant qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Social Sciences and related disciplines.
