Engineering Manager

As our Principal Electrical Engineer / Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the development of engineering systems, processes, and teams to support the delivery of complex HV infrastructure projects. You’ll bring deep electrical engineering expertise, particularly in HV substations and primary systems and with a solid understanding of civil interfaces.

This is not a design manager role, it’s a strategic and technical leadership position with direct influence over how engineering is done across the business

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

• Establish and implement engineering systems, standards, and procedures
• Lead technical reviews across HV transmission projects
• Oversee engineering activities from feasibility through to construction
• Define engineering workflows and tools (e.g. design platforms, document control systems)
• Ensure compliance with Australian standards, client specifications, and grid codes
• Provide technical oversight across all project phases, from concept to commissioning

Team Building & Mentorship

• Recruit, onboard, and mentor electrical engineers and multidisciplinary staff
• Manage external consultants and subcontractors across design and delivery
• Foster a high-performance engineering culture with accountability and collaboration

Project Delivery & Business Development

• Support project managers with technical leadership across HV transmission projects
• Interface with clients and regulatory bodies
• Contribute to tenders and proposals with engineering input and scope definition
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering delivery and constructability

What You’ll Bring

• 12+ years in HV electrical engineering, ideally in primary systems
• Experience in a similar engineering leadership role
• BESS experience highly regarded
• Strong understanding of transmission infrastructure, substations, and grid connections
• Ability to critique and manage both primary and secondary disciplines
• Familiarity with civil interfaces in HV projects
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams and manage external consultants
