Safety Advisor

Maintain the site Safety Health Management System for the mine, mitigate risks, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, mentor and coach mine workers and supervisors in all aspects of safety, maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, perform change management and risk assessments, promote continuous improvement, conduct quality control reviews of investigations, drive a “reporting culture” on site and have a positive influence on “site culture”, maintain site safety systems and reporting requirements and actively participate in field leadership

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide advice on legislative and statutory requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of the site Safety Health Management System
  • Maintain registers and accurate safety records
  • Promote and coordinate site safety initiatives
  • Facilitate and support investigations and risk assessments
  • Conduct site inspections and audits
  • Carry out visible field leadership activities
  • Foster a proactive safety culture
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Lead by example

About you:

  • Mine site experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting work priorities
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Experience in risk assessments
  • Minimum Cert IV in Safety (Diploma of Safety preferred)
  • ICAM Lead Investigator certification
  • HLTPAT005 – Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse
  • Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
