Our Gold Coast, Community Rugby League team are looking for an incredible individual to join their team as a Competitions Coordinator on a 12-month fixed term contract!

We need someone with an operational understanding of the professional sports environment not just a passion for the on-field action. To us, Rugby League is more than a game. At the QRL, you’ll help unite and inspire people through lifelong engagement in Rugby League. We work across community clubs right up to the elite level, and you’ll champion this remarkable game, and see first-hand its impact on Queenslanders everywhere.

What you’ll do on a day-to-day:

In the role of Competitions Administrator, you’ll be responsible for building the capacity of community competitions to ensure the effective operational delivery of Rugby League. The role will create an environment where players of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game to increase participation.   • Assist in the development of competition strategic planning to ensure alignment with QRL and national strategy.
  • Support all aspects of competition management, including but not limited to, creating draws and referee appointments.
  • Provide competition logistic support for local league games and promotional events, and finals series hosted in the Local League(s) area.
  • Actively support volunteer attraction and retention and deliver appropriate education for league volunteers to support competition delivery.
  • Assist the Leagues with access to suitable marketing and promotional material to maximise interest in competitions including assisting in developing competition media presence (eg; Facebook, website, Instagram)  
  • Represent the QRL at events, forums & stakeholder meetings.
  • Supports local Board with administration and correspondence pertaining to but not limited to, Board Minutes, Board Apparel, Code of Conduct and Judiciary outcomes and more. 
  • Ensure Leagues understand and comply with QRL License Agreements and other policies relevant to QRL partners, including apparel providers.
  • Administer annual League/Competition Health Checks within the required timeframe, report to the relevant stakeholders, on issues of significance and work collaboratively to take action.
  • Assist in Accreditation Compliance, ensuring all Coaches and support staff (LeagueSafe / sports trainers/volunteers) are registered and fully accredited.
  • Assists the MRC/tribunal process and any complaints relevant to the competition.
  • Help administer QRL age eligibility rules, including administration of Player Development Framework initiatives as they pertain to competition delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in a similar operational role, with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills and a high attention to detail, ready to make an impact from day one.
  • Current driver’s licence and eligibility for a Blue Card.
  • Confident with Microsoft Office and comfortable using Excel for reporting and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, governance, and managing operations across multiple locations.
  • Skilled at building genuine relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Known for a firm yet fair approach and authenticity in every interaction.
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills to handle challenges effectively.
  • Flexible and committed, knowing rugby league doesn’t fit the standard Monday–Friday, 9–5 gig.

ROLE SPECS

This is a permanent full-time position. The salary for this position is $73,510 plus superannuation. QRL remunerate based on the position requirements to ensure gender pay equity in sport. We offer 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week of refresh leave throughout the season as well as hybrid working arrangements.
