Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Identified Role – Counsellor / Social Worker / Psychologist (Wollongong, Shellharbour, Nowra and Batesman Bay)

This position is identified under special measures provisions to support culturally safe service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Pure Insights is seeking a passionate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clinician, or a clinician with strong cultural capability and experience working alongside First Nations communities, to join our team on the South Coast.

About the Role

You will deliver short-term, culturally safe, solutions-focused counselling to jobseekers facing complex barriers to employment. This includes supporting individuals with mental health concerns, trauma, addiction, family and relationship challenges, and systemic barriers impacting work.

You’ll work closely with employment service providers and community supports to help participants build confidence, wellbeing, and pathways to sustainable employment.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Psychology, Counselling or Social Work
  • Full registration with AHPRA, ACA, PACFA, ASORC or AASW
  • Experience working with complex and diverse caseloads
  • Strong cultural capability and commitment to culturally safe practice
  • Ability to work independently and travel within the South Coast region
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Willingness to obtain Police & Working With Children Checks

Highly regarded:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity
  • Experience working in First Nations or community-controlled settings

Job Type: Casual

Hours: 1 day per week (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm), with potential for additional days subject to service demand.
