Public Skills Australia (PSA) has been appointed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils. PSA works with employer and employee representatives from the Public Safety and Government industry-sectors – Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Correctional Services, Defence, and all levels of Government – to ensure Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system delivers better outcomes for learners and employers. A primary function of PSA is to provide workforce planning, industry intelligence and training product development in support of industry needs and government priorities.
The Communications Officer (Technical) will focus on the development, review and maintenance of PSA’s technical content, including website updates, stakeholder communication tools, data presentations and digital assets. The role supports the delivery of clear, accurate and accessible communications across a range of technical and industry-focused audiences.
The position is accountable to the Manager VET Projects and Communications and will be responsible for:
• maintaining and updating website and digital communication platforms
• developing and reviewing technical content and stakeholder communication tools
• preparing and presenting data in accessible and engaging formats
• supporting online engagement strategies and digital resources
• ensuring consistency and accuracy of PSA’s technical communications.
We are seeking applicants with strong digital and technical literacy as well as written and visual communication skills. They should have demonstrated expertise in managing websites and social media platforms as well as the ability to work on and balance multiple priorities to different line managers alongside maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They should further have a demonstrated ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and work in a dynamic team environment.

Essential
- Qualification(s) and/or equivalent experience/training relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing websites and social media platforms.
- Ability to work on and balance multiple priorities to different line managers.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities and work in a dynamic team environment.
- Demonstrated high level of digital and technical literacy. Experience developing graphic design
materials.
- Proficient user of the Adobe Creative Suite and content management systems.
Desirable
- Experience working within service-focused private companies.
- Experience working in public safety and/or government contexts.
- Experience in working in small companies or not for profits.
- Experience developing video content.
