YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take ownership of their own quality of work.
  • Take ownership of their own HSE behaviour and assessments.
  • Work to and support the PSM culture of respect and collaboration.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to support workshop operations, ensuring equipment reliability, quality compliance and safe execution of preservation, maintenance and refurbishment activities.
  • Provide technical support to Engineers and Technicians by diagnosing mechanical faults and failures, assisting in root cause analysis and corrective action development and recommending technical solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Assist Project Engineers and Technical Managers with technical problem-solving, engineering change implementation and continuous improvement initiatives and lean practices.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including maintenance procedures, inspection reports and HSE documentation and risk assessments.
  • Conduct inspections, testing and verification of mechanical equipment to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Monitor and manage work progress and flag technical risks, defects or time overruns related to mechanical scope.
  • Support HSE compliance by conducting safety observations, participating in incident investigations and implementing engineering controls and corrective actions.
  • Assist with onboarding and verification of competency (VOC) from a technical capability perspective.
  • Support training activities by identifying technical skill gaps and assisting with on-the-job technical guidance.
  • Assist with tooling, consumables and asset tracking by ensuring equipment is technically suitable, calibrated and fit for purpose.
  • Record and analyse maintenance data to support reliability improvements and KPI reporting.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Good collaboration, people, leadership and communications skills.
  • Mechanical / hydraulic and/or electrical knowledge and experience.
  • Good knowledge of safe lifting practices.
  • Preservation and maintenance experience is highly desirable.
  • The ability to safely use all kinds of tooling and to instruct others.
  • Be comfortable in addressing groups of people.
  • Computer literate.
  • The ability to perform medium to high physical work.
  • Valid forklift ticket.
  • Desirable: working at heights, dogman, rigging, first aid.
  • Valid driving license, Class C.
