Commissioning Technician

Description

PSD Energy is seeking experienced Commissioning Technicians to support the delivery of major renewable and infrastructure projects across regional Victoria.

This role focuses on substation commissioning and provides exposure to SCADA, primary, and secondary systems. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality commissioning outcomes across a fast-paced EPC environment.

This is a site-based position on a 3:1 roster, suited to candidates who enjoy hands-on technical work and working on high-performing project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities across substation environments
  • Test and commissioning of SCADA systems and communications
  • Test and commissioning protection systems and control schemes
  • test and commissioning of the primary plant, including transformers and switchgear
  • Interpret and work from drawings, schematics, and test procedures
  • Perform functional testing, fault finding and validation
  • Ensure all work aligns with project specifications and standards
  • Maintain accurate test records, reports and commissioning documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and construction teams.
  • Uphold strong safety and quality standards at all times

About You

  • Proven experience in substation commissioning
  • Strong understanding of SCADA systems, protection and control, and primary equipment
  • ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
  • Proactive and team-focused approach with high attention to detail
  • Willingness to work a 3:1 roster in regional Victoria

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Electrical trade qualification (Cert III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent)
  • Current A-Grade Electrical Licence (Victoria) or the ability to obtain
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol screening
  • Experience working within Victorian utility or network standards (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and Victorian Service & Installation Rules (desirable)
