Position Summary:
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical systems, equipment, and machinery within the organisation. This includes performing preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. This role also includes performing basic mechanical maintenance tasks such as lubrication, greasing, and supporting mechanical PMs where required. This is an early start position with a 6:00am start time, suited to candidates comfortable with morning shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on all electrical systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in plant, machinery, and building systems.
• Inspect, test, and maintain electrical installations in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and regulations.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and relevant legislation.
• Maintain lighting, power circuits, motors, control panels, and switchboards.
• Assist with minor mechanical repairs or adjustments associated with electrical work where safe and competent to do so.
• Carry out basic mechanical preventative maintenance such as greasing bearings, checking seals, and assisting with mechanical inspections as part of PM routines.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment in all areas of operation, including workshops, job sites, and shared facilities.
• Provide technical advice and input into equipment upgrades and energy efficiency projects.
Experience and Qualifications:
• Current A-Grade Electrical Licence (Victoria or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in industrial or commercial electrical maintenance.
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and safe electrical work practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems or multi-trade maintenance skills.
