About the Role

PointsBet Australia is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to provide legal guidance within the highly regulated and fast-paced Australian online wagering sector. As part of a lean legal function, this critical role will support the continued growth and success of the business by providing strategic, practical, and solutions-oriented legal guidance across the organisation.

Operating at the intersection of consumer law, regulatory compliance and business operations, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for advising on complex legal matters related to wagering regulation, commercial partnerships, technology, marketing, and corporate governance. Experience advising on, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts such as supply of goods and services, marketing, SaaS and other vendor agreements. The role requires a lawyer who can work independently to balance legal risk management with commercial pragmatism, and that has a keen sense for when to escalate matters for senior management decision making.

Reporting to the Global Head of Legal, the Legal Counsel will work closely with cross-functional leadership and teams across executive, compliance, product, marketing, operations and finance, ensuring the business continues to operate in full compliance with the regulatory framework governing PointsBet Australia’s operations. The role will also play an important part in supporting new initiatives, partnerships, and strategic projects that will enable the business to grow responsibly and competitively within the regulated Australian online wagering sector.

An interest in sport and understanding of the online wagering industry is valued but not essential.
