About Our National Operations Team:
We’re on a mission to enable safe, efficient and nationally aligned operations that turn surplus food into consistent, high‑impact food rescue—so OzHarvest can deliver more meals, more sustainably, to the communities who need them most.
About the role:
The Head of Food Rescue leads OzHarvest’s largest and most impactful program, shaping how food rescue is delivered nationwide to maximise impact for communities and the environment. Working in close partnership with State Managers and Operations leaders, this role drives national strategy, continuous improvement and transformation—balancing innovation with operational excellence.
With shared accountability for national outcomes across safety, cost‑per‑meal and donor and agency satisfaction, the Head of Food Rescue leads key multi‑state partnerships, including Woolworths, and champions new food rescue models. A strategic and collaborative leader, they use data, insight and influence to bring best practice into OzHarvest and represent our food rescue leadership across the sector—ensuring we deliver the greatest possible impact, together.
What will you get to do?
- Lead OzHarvest’s national Food Rescue strategy, driving operational excellence, innovation and impact across food rescue and relief
- Partner with State Managers and Operations Leads to deliver national targets across safety, budget, agency outcomes and cost‑per‑meal
- Build, lead and motivate high‑performing national and state teams, embedding OzHarvest values and a strong safety culture
- Shape and deliver major national initiatives, trials and new food rescue models, from concept through to implementation
- Own key multi‑state and national relationships, including leading the operational partnership with Woolworths
- Use data, insights and best practice to drive continuous improvement, reporting, analytics and evidence‑based decision‑making
- Represent Food Rescue at MTeam and Board level when required, influencing strategic decisions and organisational direction
- Lead national budgets, workforce planning, fleet and systems to ensure food rescue is sustainable, efficient and future‑focused
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent an advantage
- 5-10 years’ experience in business administrations, project management, communications, logistics
- Experience or ability to learn Salesforce/PowerBI/Microsoft/Trello/logistics systems
- Experience in a strategic planning, operations, logistics essential and food systems an advantage
- Ability to analyse reports
- Energetic, positive, organised and proactive
- Enthusiasm for offering new ideas, continuous improvement and change management
- Ability to take direction, work autonomously or as part of a team
- Strong communications skills and the ability to build relationships
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong analytical approach
