The Opportunity
Otic Group is currently seeking experienced Trading Application Specialists to join our team and deliver critical outcomes for one of our key energy client operating in global commodity and energy markets.
This role is based in Melbourne and sits within a highly collaborative trading and IT environment that supports end to end energy trading systems across the full trade lifecycle. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of complex trading platforms used in fast moving, high availability environments.
You’ll work closely with local stakeholders as well as international teams across Europe and Asia Pacific, contributing to a true follow the sun support model.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Trading Application Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
Platform Stability & Production Support
- Ensuring system stability and run continuity across trading, risk, and post trade platforms
- Monitoring live production systems, services, and batch processes
- Investigating, resolving, and documenting incidents in a time critical environment
- Coordinating incident resolution with global support and infrastructure teams
- Maintaining and improving monitoring tools, alerts, and operational procedures
- Supporting system releases and adapting monitoring processes as platforms evolve
User & Business Support
- Providing application support across the trading lifecycle (pre trade, pricing, trade execution, risk, valuation, and post trade)
- Handling configuration requests and day to day user assistance
- Actively gathering user feedback on system performance and run quality
- Working closely with business analysts and development teams to improve outcomes
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Contributing to problem backlogs and root cause analysis of recurring incidents
- Sharing ideas to improve system reliability, monitoring, and operational efficiency
- Continuously building knowledge of trading systems and the broader IS landscape
- Participating in a follow the sun support model with international teams
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
- **** Must have proven experience with Pre-trade/Pricing – Trade Life Cycle – Post Trade/Greeks/V@r/Valo ****
- University degree in IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- 5–10 years’ experience in application support within a trading or energy environment
- Strong understanding of trading and/or portfolio management processes
Technical Skills
- Experience supporting large, mission critical production systems
- Strong understanding of trading system architectures and data flows
- Solid SQL skills for data analysis and troubleshooting
- Scripting experience for automation and support tasks
- Good knowledge of Windows based environments
