The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and driven Chef de Partie to join our Food Services team. Reporting to the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will take ownership of a designated kitchen section while contributing to the broader planning and delivery of meals across the College.
This role extends beyond daily service to include high-profile internal functions, conference catering and special events. You will play an important role in maintaining culinary standards, mentoring junior team members and supporting continuous improvement within the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a dedicated kitchen section, ensuring efficient and high-quality service.
- Prepare and present food across multiple service styles, including à la carte, buffet and event catering.
- Maintain consistency in flavour, presentation and portion control.
- Support menu planning, seasonal updates and event-specific offerings.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise waste.
- Uphold rigorous food safety, hygiene and OH&S standards.
- Supervise and guide junior chefs and casual team members during service.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative and professional kitchen culture.
About You
You are a confident and capable chef who takes pride in delivering quality food and fostering teamwork. With strong technical skills and sound operational awareness, you are comfortable leading a section and supporting others during busy service periods. You value community and understand the importance of dining in shaping the resident experience.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant culinary qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role within a high-volume or premium dining environment.
- Capacity to work across a 7-day rotating roster.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary cooking techniques and food safety standards.
- Proven leadership capability and clear communication skills.
- Ability to remain composed and organised in fast-paced settings.
- Current Working with Children Check and Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Full Australian working rights.
